Well, a German startup actually tried to make that dream come true β by launching a space capsule carrying the ashes of 166 people into orbit. πβ±οΈ
It was emotional. It was futuristic. It was poetic.
Untilβ¦ it belly-flopped into the Pacific Ocean. πΆπ₯π
Families hoped their loved ones would orbit forever like space angels.
Instead, their final resting place is now Poseidonβs backyard. π§ββοΈπ
Celestis, the Texas-based space funeral partner, called it a βpartial successβ.
They added, βSadly, ashes are unrecoverable. They now rest beneath the waves.β
They’ve apologized and promised to do better. TEC says, βThis was ambitious. Weβll learn and fly again.β π οΈπ
The mission was literally called Mission Possible
Andβ¦ the people who were supposed to rest among the starsβ¦ are now resting with the bed of Ocean ππ«
So technically… they did become part of the universe β just in the deep blue part of it ππ
