Where Technology Meets Clarity
Once upon a bedtime story, we were told, “Our Grand Father is now become a star and watching us from above the sky.”
Well, a German startup actually tried to make that dream come true — by launching a space capsule carrying the ashes of 166 people into orbit. 🚀⚱️
It was emotional. It was futuristic. It was poetic.
Until… it belly-flopped into the Pacific Ocean. 😶💥🌊
🚀 Mission “Possible” Turns… Aquatic
- Startup: The Exploration Company (TEC)
- Mission Name: Nyx – Mission Possible
- Payload: Ashes of 166 humans + cannabis seeds 🌿⚱️
- Objective: Orbit the Earth and send the remains among the stars
- Reality: Capsule re-entered the atmosphere and splashed down in the Pacific 🐠
😢 Families Dreamed of Stars… Got Sea Stars Instead
Families hoped their loved ones would orbit forever like space angels.
Instead, their final resting place is now Poseidon’s backyard. 🧜♂️💔
Celestis, the Texas-based space funeral partner, called it a “partial success”.
They added, “Sadly, ashes are unrecoverable. They now rest beneath the waves.”
📉 Startup Mood: Mixed Emotions + Heavy Learning
- Launch: ✅
- Two Orbits: ✅
- Re-entry blackout: 😬
- Communication: Came back briefly
- Landing: ❌ Into the ocean with dignity… but not accuracy
They’ve apologized and promised to do better. TEC says, “This was ambitious. We’ll learn and fly again.” 🛠️🚀
🪦 Cosmic Irony Alert!
The mission was literally called Mission Possible
And… the people who were supposed to rest among the stars… are now resting with the bed of Ocean 🐚💫
So technically… they did become part of the universe — just in the deep blue part of it 🌌🌊
