“Bridging the Gap Between PMP Theory and Global IT Reality: A 35-Part Series”

Welcome to The QT Money Shift, a groundbreaking, story-driven PMP training series that throws you into the middle of a complex, global project transition. We move away from dry textbooks and follow 7Pro, an Indian service provider, as they take over the mission-critical development and 24×7 support of a US-based financial portal, QT Money.

Over the next 35+ episodes, we will not just discuss PMP and ITIL principles—we will live them. From “P1” outages to global conflicts, this is your front-row seat to the practical side of project management.

The Global Cast of Characters

This isn’t a theoretical case study. This is a story about people, time zones, and the real-world friction of a Global Distributed Team.

Onsite (The Client Stakeholders – USA/Europe)

  • Tim John (Norwalk, CT, USA) – The “Visionary VP”: He’s the overall sponsor. Tim needs this transition to work for the board, but he’s under immense pressure to cut costs. He cares about outcomes, not process.
  • Rob Miller (Jersey City, NJ, USA) – The “Gatekeeper” of Infra: Rob is the Infrastructure Owner. Cynical and old-school, he has managed the system since day one and is highly protective (and suspicious) of the offshore handoff.
  • Jason Vance (New Orleans, LA, USA) – The “Agile Dev Owner”: High-energy and a huge Agile advocate. Jason wants code deployed fast, but often forgets that India is 10.5 hours ahead.
  • Mateo “Mate” Rossi (London, UK) – The “Meticulous QA Lead”: Precision is Mate’s religion. He will reject an entire build if a single character is misplaced, demanding perfection from the development team in India.
  • Mellissa Varga (Budapest, Hungary) – The “Server Whisperer”: A quiet, clinical genius who works from the data center floor, Mellissa is the true key to the infrastructure, and 7Pro cannot start without her knowledge transfer.
  • Daniel Silva (Mexico City, Mexico) – The “Connectivity Connector”: As the Load Balancer Lead, Daniel holds the keys to traffic management. He’s often caught in the crossfire when Dev and Infra argue.

Offshore (7Pro India – The Executioners)

  • Kapil Mehta – The “Senior SDM” (Service Delivery Manager): The overall owner of the account. Kapil is the bridge between the US and India, spending his life on Zoom and managing the most challenging stakeholders on both sides.
  • Mohd Tariq – The “Technical Architect”: The brains behind the code. Tariq is the only person who truly understands the old and new codebases, and he will be essential when the system crashes.
  • Deepak & Shakira – The “Night Support Warriors”: Working the 10 PM to 7 AM IST graveyard shift, these two are 7Pro’s first line of defense during critical outages in the US.
  • Hamid – The “ServiceNow and Process Admin”: Every ticket, every incident, and every escalation must be documented, and Hamid is the one who ensures the process is “audit-proof.”

Are You Ready to Follow the Shift?

The stage is set. The characters are in place. The time zones are aligned (sort of). This isn’t just a lesson—it’s a journey.

Coming next: Article 1: The Handover – Why a Signed Contract Isn’t a Started Project. We will watch as Kapil Mehta faces his first “Jersey Wall” and the project nearly fails before it even starts.
