🌟 What You’re About to Read
Congratulations, Fresher! You’ve walked through sigma levels, DMAIC, Pareto, Fishbone, Control Charts, and more. But before you graduate this crash course, there’s one final hurdle: the geeky jargon & sigma symbols that pop up everywhere in Six Sigma conversations. Don’t worry — I’ll make them fun and simple.
📖 The Content
1️⃣ Sigma (σ) – The Star of the Show ✨
- Greek letter σ = standard deviation (how much variation exists).
- In quality terms: fewer σ = more defects; higher σ = fewer defects.
- Goal = Six Sigma = 3.4 defects per million opportunities (superhero-level quality 🦸).
2️⃣ DPMO – Defects per Million Opportunities 🎯
- Fancy way of counting mistakes.
- Example: If you bake 1,000 cookies with 10 chances to go wrong each → 10,000 opportunities. If 20 go wrong → DPMO = (20 ÷ 10,000) × 1,000,000 = 2000.
3️⃣ CTQ – Critical to Quality 🔑
- The customer’s non-negotiables.
- Example: Coffee must be hot ☕, Wi-Fi must be fast, seatbelt must be strong.
4️⃣ VOC – Voice of Customer 📢
- What customers say directly or indirectly.
- Surveys, complaints, reviews = VOC goldmine.
5️⃣ SIPOC – Process Map 🗺️
- Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customers.
- Think of it like a bird’s-eye view map of your workflow.
6️⃣ Kaizen – Continuous Improvement 🌀
- Japanese word for small, everyday improvements.
- Tiny steps = big impact over time.
📝 What We Learned Today
- Sigma (σ) = variation superhero.
- DPMO = defect calculator.
- CTQ & VOC = customer’s loudest wishes.
- SIPOC = process map for clarity.
- Kaizen = improvement never stops.
👉 Freshers, this is your survival kit. Use it, and you’ll speak Six Sigma like a pro! 🚀
