🎬 Trailer Review: Queen of the Ring — Mildred Burke Piledrives Misogyny in 1935

📅 Release Date: September 19, 2025

🥊 Step Aside, Waitressing. Enter Wrestling.

The year is 1935. The Great Depression is still hanging around like that one uncle who refuses to leave your couch. Women are told their “place” is in diners with aprons, not in wrestling rings with power slams.

Enter Mildred Burke. A single mother who says:
👉 “Nah fam, I’m not serving fries. I’m serving suplexes.”

And boom, the trailer begins with a man scoffing, “Women have no business in the ring.”
Spoiler alert: that man ends up training her. Ah yes, classic male logic — “You can’t do this! …Okay fine, I’ll show you how to do it.”

🎭 Cast & Crew

  • Emily Bett Rickards — ready to kick more than just gender stereotypes.
  • Walton Goggins — professional “gritty mentor with a bad haircut” energy.
  • Based on Pulitzer Prize winner Jeff Leen’s book, so you know it’s got more credibility than your uncle’s WhatsApp forwards.

🎥 Trailer Vibes

The whole thing screams:

  • 🥊 Rocky with lipstick.
  • 🚫 Fighting New Jersey laws that literally said women couldn’t wrestle.
  • 👩‍👦 Single mom energy: working, wrestling, raising a kid, and breaking bones — all before bedtime.

There’s sweat, tears, courtroom drama, and the kind of inspirational speeches that make you want to dropkick sexism in the face.

🍿 SaatPro’s Take

Look, Hollywood usually gives us two flavors:

  1. Blood-and-guts apocalypse where everyone dies.
  2. Over-the-top superheroes in spandex.

So, Queen of the Ring is refreshingly human. No multiverse. No laser eyes. Just a badass woman powerbombing patriarchy in 1935.

Is it a little formulaic? Sure. But do we want to see a sexist guy eat his words while Mildred pile-drives her way to history?
Oh, absolutely. Pass the popcorn. 🍿

⭐ Verdict

This isn’t just a wrestling movie. It’s about someone fighting two battles at once:

  1. Inside the ring.
  2. Against an entire society that thought “kitchen duty” was her destiny.

Queen of the Ring might just be the feminist sports drama we didn’t know we needed.
