🗽 Part 4: A Ferry to Freedom & Faces in the Crowd 🚢🌆🎭
Published in: SaatPro Travel Series – US Diaries
📍Location: New York City
🕰️ Timeline: The Day I Met Lady Liberty… and Mario.
🎬 Scene 1: Ferry to Liberty – Sailing with Emotions 🌊🚢
July 7th. The day started with a quiet excitement. We reached Battery Park, and as the line for Statue Cruises grew, so did my heartbeat.
People stood with flags, brochures, and bucket lists in hand. Everyone wanted the same thing — a glimpse of Lady Liberty.
And finally… we boarded the ferry.
The water sparkled like it knew this journey meant something. Behind us, the New York skyline stood tall — proud, chaotic, untouchable. Ahead of us?
A dream in green. A symbol. A whisper of freedom. 🗽💚
🗽 Scene 2: The Moment She Appeared
As the ferry neared Liberty Island, phones came out, eyes widened, and silence swept the deck. There she was.
Lady Liberty. Majestic. Motionless. Yet she moved the world. 🔥
Her torch was not just fire — it was hope. Her robe was not just cloth — it was history.
People around me posed. Smiled. Left.
But I stood still. Lost. Found. Both at once. 🥹
It felt personal — as if she had waited just for me.
🎭 Scene 3: Welcome to Times Square – The Loudest Whisper
From solemn silence to blinding chaos, we entered Times Square — a place that doesn’t believe in low volume. 🔊🌈
Gigantic screens blinked like gods demanding attention. From Good Morning America banners to the NASDAQ ticker, it was capitalism on caffeine.
But then came the surreal:
📸 I saw Mario and Luigi walking hand in hand,
🎸 A Cowboy in white boots playing guitar in the middle of a crowd,
👗 A woman dressed entirely in mirrors.
This place doesn’t just show you the world. It dares you to be a part of it.
🐂 Scene 4: Bullish Encounters – Wall Street’s Metal Monster
Next stop: the Charging Bull.
The bronze beast that supposedly brings financial fortune… and oddly, fertility too (don’t ask). 😂
People waited in line to touch him — horns to tail. But beyond the touristy ritual, there was something powerful about it. A frozen snarl. Strength in stillness.
He’s more than just a statue. He’s New York’s attitude.
🧟 Scene 5: Ripley’s Believe It or Not – Stranger Than Fiction
We entered a world where nothing was ordinary.
From vampire hunting kits, shrunken heads, to a man who had survived lightning seven times — Ripley’s Museum is where logic goes to retire. 😵💫🧪
There was a section with illusions so mind-bending, I began to question if I even existed.
Yes, it’s touristy. Yes, it’s wild. But also, we all need a little weird sometimes.
🚗 Scene 6: The BMW That Wasn’t Mine
Later that day, I stood beside a sleek black BMW, parked proudly like it had won a prize.
It wasn’t mine. But it looked like it could be. 😎
I clicked a photo with it anyway. Because hey — dreams don’t check ownership. 🖤🚘
🎤 Curtain Close:
The day was a whirlwind.
From Liberty’s torch to Times Square’s LED jungle, from bulls to Luigi, from history to illusion — every moment reminded me that New York doesn’t speak your language… you learn to speak New York.
And on that ferry, with the wind in my face and the skyline behind me, I whispered,
“Thank you, Lady Liberty. I needed this.”
